Putnam is a strategic business advisor to 1623 Capital and sits on the board of directors of the Motley Fool Pro Offshore Fund, Ltd. and the advisory board of the Motley Fool Pro Master Fund, LP.
Putnam is a Partner and Chief Operating Officer at LL Funds. Previously, he was a Partner and Chief Operating Officer of Paulson & Company, Inc., an investment management firm specializing in global arbitrage and event-related strategies. Prior to Paulson, he was a Managing Director with Morgan Stanley, where he served as COO of the firm’s hedge fund business, which he co-founded. Earlier, he was COO of the firm’s private equity and hedge fund-of-funds business, which he also co-founded. Prior, he was Manager of Global Strategy for Morgan Stanley’s investment management business. Before Morgan Stanley, Putnam was a manager with Marakon Associates, a consulting firm, where he focused on strategy development and capital structure for large banks and financial services firms. Putnam also served on the Board of Directors of Motley Fool Holdings from 2008 to 2017, he was a President of holdings charged with overseeing its investment advisory subsidiaries, and remains a non-executive Chairman with respect to those affiliated businesses. He received his MBA from the Yale University School of Management and his B.A. in Political Science from Trinity College. He serves on the advisory board of the Yale International Center for Finance and is Chair of the endowment investment committee of Renbrook School.

Donny is a strategic business advisor to 1623 Capital, providing guidance and insight into all non-investment-related aspects of the business. Donny is a Senior Analyst at Lakehouse Capital. He joined The Motley Fool in 2014 and has worked across financial services and investment management since 2002.
Prior to joining The Motley Fool, Donny established a number of direct private investments alongside managing his listed portfolio. Previously, Donny was an associate at Queensland Investment Corporation and an investment analyst at CP2 (formerly Capital Partners) investing across listed and unlisted markets. Earlier in his career Donny worked at KPMG and in the investment services team of one of Australia’s largest superannuation funds, QSuper.
Donny holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Queensland. He is a CFA charterholder.
